Assistant Professor of Art History

The Art Department at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Art History. This is a ten-month full-time tenure-track position. We are seeking a diverse pool of applicants to add to and expand our current faculty and course offerings.   

Primary Job Duties: 

• Teach three art history courses per semester, including an introductory survey and upper-level courses in global art history. 
• Work with art history faculty to develop new courses to further diversify and expand the current curriculum. 
• Advise students. 
• Professional activities and scholarly development, at a level appropriate to the teaching load. 
• Service to the department, school, university, and community. 
• Work collegially with art history and studio art faculty as well as faculty across the university in an interdisciplinary fashion. 
• We seek candidates who are effective teachers to teach primarily studio art majors, but also art history minors and non-art majors within an undergraduate liberal arts setting. 

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Ph.D. in Art History required by time of appointment. 
• Area of specialization in global art history before the nineteenth century. 
• At least two years full-time art history teaching experience at the college or university level. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Area of specialization in Non-Western art history before the nineteenth century. 
• Experience teaching courses in a variety of topics. 
• Current engagement in scholarly research and professional activities.
